According to Sky News they have gained access to messages sent by the leader of the Junior Doctors in which he claimed that his only wish was to tie up the NHS for 18 months and that their sole interest was not patients health but Doctors not losing their overtime pay.
Worth reading Sky News for a better explanation but it's clear that this guy was only intent on bring down the government.
He isn't even British!

Personal life[edit]
He is married to a GP, with whom he has a son who will soon train to also be a GP. They also have a Golden Retriever who is also training to be a GP. He previously ran a photography business in his spare time.[4]

He also runs a wedding photography business which might explain his reluctance to save lives at weekends.
Also owns property worth over a million pounds.

Is a person who seeks (and attains) what is in effect. a position of political power, likely to be a good example of a patient-oriented Dr?

This is the exact reason why certain professions shouldn't be allowed to strike as they are open to hijacking by individuals that gain power and have nothing but political motives as their agenda

Having spent 5yrs as a shop steward I can tell you that unions have given up any pretence at serving their members interests and only serve their own political ambitions.

That is sadly very true in most cases. In my experience there are local reps who are interested in their members, but the higher echelons are there to use the union to push their own agenda.

Very badly handled by the BMA in my opinion, but it was a reaction to some fairly damaging plans on the part of the government if you happen to be a junior doctor.
For union officials, the actions are a means to an end and even supporting the ends doesn't necessarily mean that junior doctors agree with the method or rationale. I am quite sure anyone faced with a similar set of circumstances would kick off about it.
They are all politicians at the end of it all.

It is obviously all about pay. Otherwise the doctors would have accepted the pay deal offered, but threatened to strike over the under-funding argument on a later date.
